Our Work · Client Sites and Our Own Projects

Websites and apps we’ve built.

A WooCommerce store, a Sturgis biker bar, an Astro data site, a safety app, a news site, and a word game. Here’s what each one needed and what we built.

Incline Label

Incline Label is our Pittsburgh apparel brand. Shirts about the city, its teams, and the way people there talk, printed on USA-made tees.

What it needed

A store that one person can run day to day, with new shirts going up often and checkout that just works on a phone.

What we built

  • A Full Site Editing theme on our Smidgen parent theme, with Smidgen Blocks handling every layout
  • WooCommerce with card payments, shipping, and sales tax set up and tested before launch
  • A homepage that leads with the newest shirts, filterable by sports, the city, and the dictionary series
  • An email signup and a note on every page about the $1 per shirt that goes to local charities

The Knuckle Saloon

The Knuckle Saloon is a bar, restaurant, and live music venue in Sturgis, South Dakota, and a regular stop during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

What it needed

Hours, the menu, and upcoming events had to be easy to find on a phone, and rally week needed a section of its own.

What we built

  • A Full Site Editing build on our Smidgen theme, with Smidgen Blocks for every layout
  • Hours, events, and weekly specials right under the photo header
  • Pages for the menu, the rally, job applications, Brews and BBQ, and the Trading Post

Our project · Astro · Data

PaidForPolitics

PaidForPolitics shows who is spending money on elections, using Federal Election Commission data. You can look up an issue, a race, your representatives, or the name on a "Paid for by" line.

What it needed

Data pages for every race and issue that load fast on a phone, stay current as new filings come in, and cost close to nothing to host.

What we built

  • A static Astro site, with every page built ahead of time from FEC data
  • Issue, race, and ZIP code lookups, plus dollars per vote and late money views
  • Hosting on Netlify with no database or login on the server
  • A plain, readable design that works for people who don't follow politics closely

MarkMe homepage on a desktop screen

Our project · App · iOS and Web

MarkMe

MarkMe is a safety check-in app. You tell it when you expect to be done, and if you don't check in, it lets the people you picked know.

What it needed

An app people can trust to work every time, for one person walking home or a whole team spread across job sites.

What we built

  • An iPhone and web app built with React Native and Expo
  • A Fastify API with Prisma and Supabase, and Redis job queues for timed check-ins
  • Text message alerts through Twilio, so contacts don't need the app
  • The marketing site and waitlist at markmeapp.com

Renegade Reporter

Renegade Reporter is an independent news site that pulls together top stories from many outlets, sorted by topic, with links back to each source.

What it needed

A front page that updates all day, reads like a newspaper, and stays quick on a phone.

What we built

  • A SvelteKit site with a newspaper style front page
  • Topic sections for politics, health, law, the economy, tech, and more
  • Breaking and top story slots that update as new stories come in
  • Source credit on every story, linking out to the original

Our project · JavaScript · Game

VerbaPop

VerbaPop is a free daily word game. Each day there's an anchor word and a board of hidden bubbles, and you type the words that go with it to pop them.

What it needed

A game that loads instantly, plays well with a thumb, and gives people a reason to come back tomorrow.

What we built

  • Two daily modes, Pairs and Associations
  • A bubble board that reacts as you type, with sound you can turn off
  • Streaks and an archive of past puzzles
  • No timer, no strikes, and no account needed

Built with

  • JavaScript
